Yesterday in New Orleans, Banksy’s iconic street piece “Nola” or “Girl With Umbrella” wich was painted in 2008 on N. Rampart and Kerlerec was defaced by Vandals.
Exactly three years after the catastrophic Hurricane Katrina, Banksy showed up in New Orleans. The British artist left his mark around the city, providing stenciled commentary on the post-Katrina days. Sadly, most of the street pieces are gone by now, but several remain.

The plexiglass that protected “Nola” was destroyed and the piece was sprayed with Red enamel paint. Luckily for Banksy’s fans, the Vandals weren’t successful as the piece was cleaned and the red paint removed just a few hours after. “Girl With Umbrella” is saved.
